Recycling

VTech is a participating member of the Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corporation (RBRC), a nonprofit public service organization dedicated to promoting green initiatives, conserving natural resources, and preserving our environment by preventing rechargeable batteries from entering our nation’s solid waste stream.

Founded by the rechargeable battery industry in 1994, their mission is to recycle rechargeable batteries powering many cordless electronic products such as cell phones, cordless phones, laptop computers, digital cameras, camcorders, MP3 players, PDAs, cordless power tools, two-way radios, remote control toys, electric toothbrushes and electric razors.

This program adheres to the federal and state laws requiring the proper disposal of some types of used rechargeable batteries and offers the tools to implement a simple, no cost recycling plan.

In addition to being involved in the RBRC, VTech phones are packaged using 100% recyclable materials and a reduced amount of plastic. We also design smart structures for packaging that reduces box sizes. In our offices and factories, we encourage reduced use of paper and recycling materials. We also encourage our vendors to take environmental considerations into account when supplying parts and raw materials. We also aim to use fewer components which reduces our cost of materials, waste and impact on the environment. At the same time, consumers get the direct benefit of energy savings.
